Supplementation of Information:
In order for Hagerty Insurance to properly underwrite your application, it
is necessary for us to supplement the information we receive with information
from 3rd party sources. Examples of this include, without limitation, accessing
state driving records and third party credit reports.
The Use of Your Information
First and foremost, we use the information we collect from you to determine
whether we can underwrite an insurance policy once you submit an application
and to issue the policy if we accept your application.
We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners and affiliates.
This is not linked to any non-public personal information that can identify
any individual person.
We may use an outside shipping company to ship policies, and a credit card
processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do
not retain, share, store or use non-public personal information for any secondary
purposes.
We partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs
up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that
is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are
not allowed to use non-public personal information except for the purpose of
providing these services.
The Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell or rent any non-public personal information about you to any
third party. However, there are certain circumstances in which your non-public
personal information may be disclosed. The insurance industry is highly regulated
and we may be forced to disclose information to the government or third parties
to comply with applicable legal requirements. We may also disclose non-public
personal information about you in response to a judicial or administrative
order in a criminal, civil, or administrative proceeding or investigation.
We may also voluntarily disclose such information if we, in our sole discretion,
believe it to be necessary or appropriate in connection with an investigation
of fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other activity that is either
illegal or tortious, or may expose us to legal liability. In addition, regardless
of the security measures that we take, your non-public personal information
may be disclosed inadvertently if a third party acts intentionally to intercept
them.
The Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our
site so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use
it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we
decide to use non-public personal information in a manner different from that
stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by email. Users will
have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different
manner. If the user declines, will use information in accordance with the privacy
policy under which the information was collected.
The Security
Hagerty uses industry standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of
your non-public personal information, such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layers.
However, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet.
The Public Forums
This site may make forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to
its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these
areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding
to disclose your personal information.
